The fishing float is intended to equip a fishing line, at the lower end of which is attached a piece of bait (8). It is designed to maintain the bait at a required level above the bottom (10) of the stretch of water (12). The float (4) is linked to an opposing ballast weight (6) at a fixed distance apart. A rigid rod (14) is attached to the float, and the fishing line (2) passes freely through the hollow centre of this rod. The size of the rod and the hole through the middle are designed to be large enough to allow the line to pass freely through the rod, under the pull exerted by the fish when it takes the bait.
