PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attempt to improve the dimensional stability of not only cultural relic from an excavation but also the other general vegetable relic by dipping it in a specific water soluble solvent, then impregnating it with a specific compound and then solidifying it. ;SOLUTION: A vegetable relic is dipped in a water soluble solvent, and the impregnated water in the relic is substituted for the solvent. Then, it is substituted for a higher fatty acid ester represented by formula I of a melted state, a higher fatty acid represented by formula II or polyoxyethylenealkyl eater represented by formula III, and solidified. In the formulae, R1 is a 18-38C alkyl chain, or a 2-21C alkyl chain, R2 is a 1-4C alkyl chain. In the formula, R3 is a 13-21C alkyl chain.
