PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject extremely simply producible composition capable of effectively and sustainedly releasing a medicine such as a medicament or an agrochemical at an effective concentration thereof by coating a cross-linked chitosan composition enclosing the medicine therein with a liquid crystal substance. ;SOLUTION: This coated and cross-linked chitosan composition enclosing a medicine is obtained by coating a cross-linked chitosan composition, enclosing the medicine therein and prepared by uniformly dispersing the medicine in a cross-linked chitosan with a liquid crystal substance. For example, a fine particulate cross-linked chitosan composition is prepared by emulsifying a mixture of chitosan with the medicine with an emulsifying agent, then cross-linking the chitosan with a cross-linking agent and uniformly dispersing and enclosing the medicine in the interior thereof. Chitosan is obtained by deacetylating chitin to 50-100% and the grain diameter thereof is preferably 10-50μm. The amounts of the ingredients based on 1g composition are preferably 0.05-0.1wt.% medicine and 1-4wt.% chitosan. A substance safe for the human body or crops, environments, etc., such as bisoleyl phosphate or dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine is preferred as the liquid crystalline substance.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
