PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foliar spray agent caable of enhancing the yield and the quality of rice with a simple method which applies the agent, only, at the later half of the grain filling period, especially immediately before harvest time by using a specific saccharide as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: The agent uses gluco oligosaccharide as a active ingredient. The one or more kinds of glucooligosaccharides selected from among α-1,4'- glucooligosaccharides, cyclo-α-1,4'-glucooligosaccharides, α-1,6'- glucooligosaccharides, α-1,6'-,α-1,4'-glucooligosaccharides, β-1,2'- glucooligosaccharides, α-1,2'-glucooligosaccharides, β-1,3'-glucooligosaccharides, α-1,3'-glucooligosaccharides, β-1,4'-glucooligosaccharides are preferable as glucooligosaccharides. The content of these glucooligosaccharides in a solid is preferably more than 20/100 of the glucooligosaccharides. The concentration of the glucooligosaccharides acting as the foliar spray agent is preferably less than 10%.
