MENU ITEM SELECTING/DISPLAYING METHOD AND FUNCTION EXPLANATION DISPLAYING METHOD

PURPOSE: To provide a menu item selecting/displaying method with which item selection can be facilitated. ;CONSTITUTION: When performing menu item selection/display for displaying a low-order partial menu by selecting one of items in a main menu with a pointer (p) and for further displaying a low-order partial menu by selecting any item of the partial menu while displaying the main menu M, an item selection switch SW for storing the selection of respective items in the main menu and the partial menu is provided at an item position and corresponding to the selection of switch, partial menus S₁, S₂₁ and S₂₂ in the low order of items (b), b₂ and b₄ are simultaneously displayed while deviating their positions. Thus, the relevant menu is prevented from being displayed or deleted by moving the pointer. Besides, concerning the item selection due to a pointing device, it can be directly moved to the target item position. Further, it can be confirmed at a glance by simultaneously displaying the low-order menus where the target item is positioned.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
