PURPOSE: To quantitatively measure acoustic velocity, distribution, and attenuation coefficient distribution in the specific organ. ;CONSTITUTION: An ultrasonic oscillator array 23 for transmission and an ultrasonic oscillator array 25 for receiving are arranged on one and the other of a pair of distance measuring chips of digital display type calipers opposed to each other respectively. The digital type distant measuring part 2 is connected to a computer 16 via an A/D converter 15. Therefore, the thickness of the internal organs which is a subject sandwiched between the ultrasonic oscillator array 23 for transmission and the ultrasonic oscillator array 25 for receiving can input in the computer 16. And the ultrasonic oscillator array 23 for transmission is driven by selected a specific ultrasonic oscillator by the instruction of the computer 1 via a transmission channel selector 14, etc. Further, in the ultrasonic oscillator array 25 for receiving, only a specific ultrasonic oscillator is selected by the instruction of the computer 16.
