PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the life of a contact chip by bringing a wire type filler material into contact with a cylindrical body, formed of an eccentric hole part, etc., nearby its center. ;SOLUTION: The contact chip 27 has a wire hole 27a formed in its center while extending along the length of the torch so that a welding wire W is inserted. The wire hole 27a has its center C2 eccentric with the center C1 of the contact chip 27. Namely, the contact chip 27 has a radially thick and a thin part around the wire hole 27a. A tungsten-containing wear-resisting member 51 is arranged atop of the wire hole 27a. The wire hole 27a communicates with a passage for a chip body and the welding wire is supported freely movably toward the chip body and contact chip 27.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
