PURPOSE: To provide an Au-Si alloy brazing filler metal which is excellent in the brazing property such as flowability and the machining proprty before brazing in the Au-Si alloy brazing filler metal to be used in joining the electronic parts. ;CONSTITUTION: The Au-Si alloy brazing filler metal is composed of extremely fine crystalline grains where the diameter of the crystalline grain of the Si-rich phase is 1μm. The brazing property such as the flowability of the brazing filler metal during the brazing operation and the machining proprty are improved by using the brazing filler metal composed of fine crystalline grains. Such Au-Si alloy brazing filler metal is obtained by executing an appropriate heat treatment after rapid solidification by the single roll method, an can stably be manufactured when the Si content is below 10 mass %.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
