Light energy from a high energy pump laser (20) is fed to the input window (11) of the Optical parametric Oscillator - OPO. One resonant cavity (21) of the OPO is between the input half-silvered window (11) and an output window (12), via a grating plate (14). The other resonant cavity (22) is between the input window and a third mirror (13), via the grating plate (14). The first cavity (21) has a criterion defined for a null order reflection beam. The second cavity criterion defined by a first order reflection beam. The variable frequency output beam has a high energy density.
