CONSTITUTION:A tracking error signal SE is applied to a voltage comparator 25, and a reading position is converted into a rectangular wave signal Sc as one pulse when the recording track is crossed by one, and the Sc is applied to a counter 26 for count. In shifting the reading position for N tracks with track jump, when the count is done to a prescribed number NB set at a system control circuit 21, less than the N, a signal SY for drive end/brake start is obtained from the counter 26. The SY is given to a control signal generating circuit 22 and a reverse current flows to a DC linear motor 15 for braking.
