Construction system for reinforced concrete foundations - uses foamed plastic planks and support frame to retain concrete during pouring and hardening operations

The support frames (4) are inserted in the ground at the ends of the areas into which concrete foundations are to be laid. The frames have a cross rod (7), earth spikes (11) and upward protruding rods (9, 10). The foamed plastic planks (2, 3) are inserted in the frames in place of the conventional timber "shuttering boards" A lower reinforcing steel mesh (13) is placed on short support blocks (15) in the trench. An upper mesh (14) is supported by wire ties (16) from cross pieces (17). The concrete is poured into the artificial trench and allowed to harden. The planks and supports are then removed. Removal is facilitated by paper layers on the faces of the planks.
