The machine according to the invention comprises, on a load bearing frame 11 provided by pulling and/or attachment means A for a tractor or the like, tubular means 17 for taking up water which communicate at one of their ends with means 18 for lifting water. Take-up means 17 are tiltably mounted - about an essentially horizontal axis - between a tilted working position in which the said water lifting means 18 are at least partly immersed in a canal or the like C, and a tilted back resting position in which they lie within the overall dimensions envisaged for road transport. Said take-up means 17 are connected at their other end in a leaktight fashion and in liquid communication with water distribution means 16, 15, 21.1-21.3, supported by means of said frame 11 through which the water taken up and lifted through said lifting 18 and take-up means 17 is distributed to a plurality of outlets 21.1'-21.3' for the outflow of water through which the flow entering the said take-up means 17 is distributed to a corresponding plurality of outflows onto the crop field requiring irrigation.
