A heat exchanger for condensing into liquidphase a vapor containing non-condensable gas componentsthrough heat exchange with a heat exchanging medium has avessel having a vapor inlet for receiving the vaporcontaining the non-condensable gas components and adischarge port for the non-condensable gas components.The heat exchanger further has a tube nest disposed inthe vessel and having a plurality of tubes through whichthe heat exchanging medium flows. The vapor containingnon-condensable gas components flows towards the dis-charge port across the tube nest so as to be condensedinto liquid phase through heat exchange with the heatexchanging medium flowing through the tubes, so that thenon-condensable gas components are separated from theliquid phase and flow towards the discharge port. Thetube nest is constructed to create a change in thedynamic pressure of flow of the vapor towards thedischarge port to cause such a static pressure distribu-tion in the heat exchanger that a lower static pressureis established in a region where the discharge port isprovided than in a region where the vapor inlet isprovided.
