Flame retardant epoxy resin mixture (M) comprising an epoxy resin, phosphorous-containing compound and curing agent - contains a phosphorous compound of formula (I) or (II) :R1, R2 = 1-8C alkyl, cyclohexyl, cyclopentyl or 1-18C (sic) aryl optionally substituted with alkyl or alkoxy groups, or R1 and R2 may combine with P to form a ring ; and m, n = 0-1. Also claimed are (i) the preparation of (M) by reacting the epoxy resin with (I) or (II) in a first step and then reacting the reaction product with a curing agent and (ii) prepregs or composites comprising (in)organic fibre, nonwoven or woven fabric reinforcing structures and (M).
