FIELD: mechanical engineering; provision of required roughness of surface prior to plasma arc spraying. SUBSTANCE: device for machining workpieces has housing 1 accommodating electric motor 2, worm reduction gear 3 engaged with camshaft 4 through V-belt drive 5. Guide 7 is spring-loaded relative to housing by means of compression springs 8 and it conveys reciprocating motion in vertical plane to holder of electrode 11, when engaged with camshaft. Drum 6 is made in form of free-wheeling clutch. When cable 12, passed through fixed roller 2 and movable roller 13, is being wound on drum 6, electrode holder moves in horizontal plane along guide.
