FIELD: manufacture of integrated optical circuits. SUBSTANCE: in agreement with first version side surface of channel of light guide is subjected to radiation with known characteristics at angle to channel of light guide exceeding critical one at which no excitation of inherent modes directed by channel under action of direct incident radiation takes place. Angle and plane of radiation incidence are changed and scattered radiation trapped and directed by channel of light guide is recorded. Device for realization of process has source of directed radiation, light conduit made in the form of fibrous light guide which first butt is connected to radiation detector, opaque screen with slit which width, length and position can be changed, turning gear in which radiation source or tested light guide is placed for unspecified fixation of their relative positions. Light conduit is matched with studied channel of light guide and is connected to second butt of the latter. In compliance with second version of invention side surface of channel of light guide or part of it is irradiated with high-intensity continuous or pulse diffuse radiation field with the exception of parts of integrated optical circuit through which excitation field can directly excite inherent directed modes of channel of light guide. Scattered radiation trapped and directed by channel of light guide is recorded. Device for realization of this version includes radiation source, light conduit made in the form of fibrous light guide which first butt is connected to radiation detector and second butt - to butt of examined light guide, opaque screen with slit which width, length and position can be changed, integrating sphere covered on inside with material diffusely reflecting radiation which can house integrated optical circuit. External surface of screen is coated with material absorbing radiation. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and authenticity of process. 2 cl, 2 dwg
