The method involves cutting to size a base blank (1) to an intermediate or finished dimension. At least one plate-shaped reinforcing element (2-4) is fitted to the base blank. A single-stage or multistage shaping of the composite component which are formed by the blank and reinforcing elements is carried out by at least one forming and/or cutting tool. The joining could be by adhesive, welding, soldering or clinching.
