A process for producing foam from two-component reactive plastics comprises: (a) mixing at least one of the reactive components with CO2 under pressure; (b) thereafter mixing the components; (c) expanding the resulting reaction mixture suddenly with the prodn. of high rates of shear; and (d) hardening the expanded mixture. A device for producing foam (15) comprises a mixing appts. (11) for mixing two components, at least one of which contains CO2 under pressure, the outlet of the mixing appts. having an opening (12) 1 mm in at least one cross-sectional dimension.
