High temp. resistant heat insulating material, pref. for producing coverings or insulating elements of constructional or functional parts e.g. wall and ceiling boards, core insulation of fireproof doors and flaps, insulating elements of vaults, lift shafts, facade claddings and the like, comprises a mixt. of 25-60 wt.% expanded perlite, 10-40 wt.% aluminium silicate and 10-25 wt.% magnesium aluminium silicate powder. Also claimed are (i) a method of producing high temp. resistant heat insulating elements from the above material; and (ii) a high temp. resistant insulating element with a core insulation produced from the above material by the above method and which is arranged between two outer layers, pref. gypsum boards stuck to the core insulation.
