The device includes a focussing lens (2) for coupling a laser ray (1) into an optic fibre (3), whose input surface area (4) is vertical w.r.t. the axis of the laser ray. A beam splitter (5) is inserted in the beam path between the focussing lens and the fibre input surface. The beam splitter redirects light which is reflected from the fibre input surface. It produces a sharp image of the fibre input surface on the chip of a camera by means of an imaging lens (6). The beam splitter is pref. formed as a pellicle beam splitter with a thickness of only a few microns.
