The glass roof construction uses compound glass panels with incorporated cylindrical Fresnel lenses (3), or simple panels of a transparent plastics material. An absorber system (2) is positioned behind the glass roof along the focal lines of the Fresnel lenses. The absorber can be provided by modules mounted on carriages or slides for synchronous positioning under control of a measuring system for tracking the movement of the sun.
