The processed transparency film is threaded through a light gate with white light diodes(14), or RGB diodes, on one side and with CCD sensors (15) on the other side. The diodes and CCDs are aligned across the film feed and provide a rapid response detection of the opaque bars between transparencies. This controls the cutter which separates the transparencies for loading into the mounts.The line of diodes is aligned to match the line of CCDs. The light gate is inside a housing through which the film guide (10) is fed. The light gate is constricted between apertures (11,12)
