A conference connection between several subscribers (KE-B to KE-D), set up by a first terminal (KE-A) as convener, can be assigned to a second terminal KE-E by operating a special function key ST. For this purpose, a connection to the second terminal is established to begin with from the first terminal, the conference connection being transferred into a hold position with reference to the convener. The prerequisite for assigning this held conference connection is that the two terminals are in a particular configuration with respect to one another. These terminals, for which, for example, a manager/secretary configuration exists, preferably belong to a group of terminals integrated in the communication system, which exhibits so-called key functions. When the special function key ST is operated, the connection existing between the two terminals is released and, at the same time, the second terminal (KE-E) is switched through to the conference connection, the convener status then being allocated to the second terminal. This is done with the prerequisite that the line via which the original conference had been set up is simultaneously connected to the other terminal ("Mulap" line). Thus, the facilities belonging to the convener status (e.g. including further subscribers, temporarily leaving the conference connection) can be activated from the second terminal (KE-E). However, the relevant subscriber is released from the manipulations necessary in connection with the setting-up of the conference connection. IMAGE
