For a magnet system for needle selection in textile machines, especially for a bistable magnet system, it is proposed to arrange a rotatably mounted armature part (1) in front of the end face of an elongate magnet core (2) and to provide the end confronting the end face with a permanent magnet (7). Provided on both sides of an exciting coil (3) surrounding the magnet core (2) are flux guideplates which extend from the end of the magnet core into the region of that end of the armature part provided with the permanent magnet.
