The handle incorporates a lock (3) and a key (4) which fits into an identical lock on an adjacent trolley to release a coin placed in the first lock as a deposit on the trolley. The lock is shaped to fit into a matching recess (2) in the trolley handle, where it is fixed in place by screws and catches which require a special tool to release them. After fitting, the top of the lock and the surface of the handle are concealed by a clip-on or screw-down cover.
