Agricultural machine for deposition of film on two adjacent earth ridges

The machine is constructed on a rigid frame (1), pulled over the ground by a tractor, and held at a fixed height above the ground by wheels (6). The wheels are spaced transversely to correspond to outer furrows (7) of two parallel ridges of earth (8). The front part of the frame supports a spray mechanism (25) to apply weed killer as the machine is moved across the ground. The rear part (9) of the frame supports an articulated support (10) for the roll of plastics film (14), which is actually supported on a series of wheels (13). At the centre of these wheels, a central wheel (12) bears on the bottom of the central furrow. This central wheel records the progress over the ground and acts to unroll the film and to locate it in the bottom of the furrow. The edges of the film are located on the outer faces of the ridges by means of the outer wheels (20), which are held on a pivoted vertical arm (24).
