PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly implement the smooth change of a distance between wheels by applying the constitution that the first wheels formed to be liftable and travel along the standard gauge and a retaining mechanism for holding the first wheels at an elevated position are provided at both outer sides of a truck, together with the second wheels between the first wheels for travel on the narrow gauge, upon the ascent of the first wheels. ;SOLUTION: In the standard gauge, the first wheels 123 are in a travel state in contact with rails 151. On the other hand, the second wheels 104 for the narrow gauge move upward and are in an afloat state. Also, the first wheels 123 support a rolling stock body. Then, when the second wheel travel mode takes place, the second wheels 104 come in contact with rails 105 and fall in a travel state. As a result, the first wheels 123 become entirely free from a load, and an actuator for the first wheel spring is driven, with bearing capacity lost from the first wheel spring cushion 125. Then, the rotary shaft of the actuator moves along a circular arc groove and is held at the right end thereof, thereby causing the first wheel axle 122 to come to a position ready for elevation. At the same time, the elevated position of the axle 122 is properly held with the first wheel vertical drive actuator.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
