PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent skull formation at a casting pool by providing a side part opening from which a molten metal is allowed to flow outward in a metal supply nozzle and providing an upward facing recessed rear face in a nozzle. ;SOLUTION: The molten metal is allowed to flow out near the casting pool 68 whole surface as two injection flows directing sideward/outward through side part openings 64 so as to be allowed to collide with a casting roll 16 cooling surface immediately near a casting pool 68 surface. A floor 63 rear side of a nozzle trough 61 is formed to convex to be rear face recessing upward against the casting pool 68. A recess can pass a metal flow at a nozzle underside. A gas bubble is prevented from stagnating/accumulating overall at an underside of the nozzle. In particular, it is important the side part openings 64 are arranged at inner ends of two metal supply nozzle 19 half parts. By this method, the molten metal is sufficiently supplied near a center region, skull formation is surely prevented in this region of the pool.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
