PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the connection of gas piping by blowing a gas into inside a dry gas seal partitioned with a labyrinth and pressuring it, and turning inside a casing into a vacuum state using a vacuum pump having ability to discharge an equivalent quantity of gas. ;SOLUTION: A leak quantity G of a labyrinth 3 is expressed by an equation. Each letter in the equation indicates the following matter: α: capacity coefficient, F: gap, ϕ: expansion coefficient, v: blowing through coefficient, K: correction coefficient, g: gravitational acceleration, Po: pressure on upstream side of labyrinth 3, and Vo: specific volume. The inside pressure of a centrifugal compressor casing 2a is turned into a vacuum state to make a continuous operation test possible using a vacuum pump 5 having a discharge ability more than the leak quantity G. This method facilitates that the continuous operation test carried out by assembling a gas piping in a closed circuit and making the internal pressure of the centrifugal compressor casing 2a more than atmosphere pressure is carried out in the vacuum state to make cost reduction possible.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
