PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent twist in a knitting machine for socks, etc. ;SOLUTION: This twist preventing apparatus for a circular knitting machine is constituted of a perforated pipe 15E to be rotated with a needle cylinder of the knitting machine and a stationary outside pipe 15A fundamentally concentric with the perforated pipe 15E, vacuum is produced through a side air connecting part 15D inside the perforated pipe 15E and a space is formed between the perforated pipe 15E and the outside pipe 15A. The apparatus comprises at least one cleaning element 45 fixed to an actuator device for moving the cleaning element so as to bring the cleaning element into contact with the outside of the perforated pipe 15E in the space.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
