PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power resistor having a high heat capacity per unit vol., adequate resistance value and improved mechanical characteristics. ;SOLUTION: The resistor is a sintered block contg. a composite oxide including Al oxide or Al, C 0.5-5 wt.% and partly stabilized zirconia 0.1-30 wt.%. This block is composed of a first region contg. a composite oxide including Al oxide or Al, and partly stabilized zirconia 0.1-30 wt.% and second region contg. the composite oxide including Al oxide or Al, C with more than that in the first region and partly stabilized zirconia 0.1-30 wt.% and has a pair of electrodes which are formed on opposed two faces of the block and mutually electrically connected through the second region.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
