PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a standard tape for confirming the excessive modulation of an analog magnetic recording/reproducing device. ;SOLUTION: A standard tape for confirming excessive modulation where a plurality of square wave signals 2-4 in that the white and black levels of an image signal are alternately repeated, a repetition frequency differs, and high and low levels correspond to the while and black levels of the image signal are successively recorded, black-level signals 7 and 8 and a plurality of square wave signals 9-11 that are at a white level and have different time widths are alternately recorded, and further a plurality of square wave signals, the black-level signal, and signals 2a-11a where the phase of a plurality of single square wave signals is inverted are recorded is reproduced by an analog magnetic recording/reproducing device. An excessive modulation is confirmed by observing the presence or absence of an inverted noise being generated at a reproduced image, thus adjusting the analog magnetic recording/reproducing device.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
