PURPOSE:To obtain excellent printing characteristics and to prevent the deterioration of an indicator by directly printing an occult blood detecting printing ink composition consisting of an occult blood detecting composition, a highly water absorbable resin and an adsorbent on a membrane filter to obtain an occult blood detecting specimen. CONSTITUTION:An occult blood detecting printing ink composition consists of an occult blood detecting composition, a highly water absorbable resin and a polar reagent such as a color forming reagent and/or an adsorbent for adsorbing a proteinaceous substance. The highly water absorbable resin is selected from a starch/acrylic acid graft copolymer, an isobutylene/maleic anhydride copolymer, polyacrylic acid and an acrylic acid/vinyl alcohol copolymer and the adsorbent is selected from an inorg. porous body, a carrier having a polar group, a polymer flocculant, a material wherein a substance to be adsorbed is immobilized on a polymer and a separating polymer carrier used in chromatography. An occult blood detecting specimen can be obtained by adding a binder resin and a solvent to the occult blood detecting printing ink composition and directly printing the resulting mixture on a membrane.
