PURPOSE:To estimate the precentage of absolute volume of the aggregate by finding the area and circumferential length of aggregate particles from the number of picture elements in the polygon of the aggregate particles, and finding the circularity of the aggregate particles from the area and circumferential length. CONSTITUTION:A belt conveyor 1 carries out the aggregate 2 continuously and a sampler 3 as a sample collection part samples a necessary amount of the aggregate 2 on a sifter 4 as a selection part. Then the sifter 4 sorts the aggregate particles by size corresponding to the magnification of a camera 7, then the particles 5 are mounted on a photography table. The camera 7 picks up an image of the particles 5 mounted on the table 6 and its data is stored temporarily in a frame memory, etc., by an image processor 8. Processes such as edge particle, fine particle, and extremely-large particle removal are carried out as to an aggregate pattern in the image pickup data and picture elements which constitute an image pattern in the outer shape of the image pattern as the particles 5 are counted.
