PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure very easily and with high accuracy distribution of underwater potential differences at the submerged portion of a ship. ;SOLUTION: Insulating support rods 12 each having a rod-shaped reference electrode at its end are secured to the required parts of the side of a ship 11 along its overall length with the reference electrodes 12a submerged under the surface of the sea, and a distribution of underwater potential differences under the surface of the sea around the ship is measured from detected potential difference signals between the plurality of reference electrodes 12a.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
