BOX CULVERT AS MEASURES AGAINST UNEVEN SETTLEMENT OR THE LIKE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a box culvert using a flexible jointing material, capable of eliminating a split into two halves, and consequently improving moldability, a mold releasing function and portability. SOLUTION: A box culvert 1 is made of precast concrete formed like a cylinder for building an underground structure such as a covered conduit and an underground road. In addition, a flexible jointing material 4 is buried within the annular cross section of the cylinder and notched parts 2 and 3 are formed on one or both of the inner and outer surfaces of the cylinder approximately along the center line of the flexible jointing material 4, so as to enable the cylinder to be broken via stress concentration on the notched parts 2 and 3, upon occurrence of uneven settlement or the like. According to this construction, the culvert 1 can be molded as a product integrated with the flexible joining material 4, thereby ensuring high moldability, as well as the improvement of a storing function and portability.
