PURPOSE:To make the calibration of a light emission element for contamination correction or for test unnecessary by calibrating the sensor output level of a smoke sensor so as to be a prescribed value in definite smoke density, and thereafter, applying arithmetic-processing by the software of a computer. CONSTITUTION:The sensor output level SLVc' corresponding to the smoke density A%/m after contamination is obtained by following procedure. At first, only a light emission element LED1 for smoke detection is lighted in the smoke density 0%/m and the sensor output level SLVo' is measured, and next, both the light emission element LED1 for smoke detection and a light emission element LED2 for test are lighted, and the sensor output level SLVT' is measured. Then, fire decision is performed by comparing the sensor output level LV to be detected by the light emission element LED1 for smoke detection at an optional point of time with the sensor output level S for a fire deciding standard by using this sensor output level SLVc' as the fire deciding standard S. Thus, because after the sensor output level of a smoke sensor is adjusted or calibrated so as to be a prescribed value, the processing after that is performed by the arithmetic operation of the software of the computer, the adjustment or the calibration of the light emission element for test comes unnecessary.
