The method uses a radioactively marked soiling medium (12') for contamination of the instrument (20), which is then cleaned with the cleaning efficiency checked by detection of the radioactive marker. The radioactive radiation level is detected along a time axis before and after contamination of the instrument and after cleaning the latter, with the residual soiling of the cleaned instrument calculated using a defined equation.
