This device prepares e.g. meat and sausage by cutting the wares into slice, cube or strip form. It includes a box-shaped magazine in a casing. Within the magazine, a plunger moves along its length, to compress the meat. Following compression, which pushes the meat from one end of the magazine, the plunger is retracted to its initial position at the other side of the magazine. The press plunger is detachably connected to a piston rod passing through a space accumulating leaked material, i.e. solid and liquid residues. This lies between magazine and plunger drive and has an extraction opening for leakage. A moveable device having a separation blade, closes the top of the magazine after filling. Over the magazine and closure is a filling funnel, which is fastened to the casing, to tilt or pivot via a link connection.
