The high-voltage (HV) circuit-breaker with metallic encapsulation housing (1) holds at least one interrupter unit (3) with an arc-extinguishing device surrounded by quenching gas. A switching vessel (2) made of an insulating material encloses the interrupter unit (3) in a gas-tight manner within the encapsulation housing (1), and contains the quenching gas and is surrounded by an insulating gas, which is specifically at a lower pressure than the quenching gas. More specifically, the quenching gas has a greater part by volume of SF6 than the insulating gas.
