Camera flash with option for altering angle of object illumination e.g. for still conventional and digital cameras

A flash lamp device to change the angle at which the lamp illuminates the object comprises a bulb with reflector that is quasi-parabolic but not truly parabolic. It has planar reflecting sides around a rectangular opening. An optical element in front of the reflector has two condenser lenses on either side of a reference line which cuts the tubular lamp at right angles in its middle in its longitudinal direction. The optical element is designed (in the case where it has either the first or the second condenser lens) so that hardly any light from the bulb spreads in a direction at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the bulb but spreads broadly in the longitudinal direction.
