The hypodermic syringe (1), for the administration of a medication (5) contained in the housing (2) or from an ampoule, has a measurement unit (17) coupled to the plunger (11) which registers the relative position of the plunger (11) in the syringe housing (2). The plunger position is proportional to the level of medication in the syringe. The measurement unit is coupled to a circuit which calculates the vol. of medication within the syringe or the ampoule, or the amount of medication injected, and triggers an acoustic indicator.
