The sensor system comprises composite flat transmitting receiving compensating and calibrating coils for e.m. sounding via the surface of a three-dimensioned body using various transmission frequencies. All the coils have rectangular coplanar winding surfaces and are fixed to T or double T shaped plates connected to each other on the free side (4) of a measuring system support (1). The plates (2, 3) are of highly stable non-conductive compound fibre material of low temp. coefft. The length and breadth of the transmitting coils and the distance to the receiving coils are so selected that, on the one hand, a strong dipole moment arises but, on the other hand, the magnetic field of the transmitting coils at the location of the receiving coils is as weak as possible. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple to mfr. and use for various applications in medicine, material testing or geophysics, e.g. construction ground water table deposits.
