The fingers (4) are moved into the transition area (12,13) of the conveyor and discharge unit (10,18,14). The transition area is formed by rubber chain conveyor belts (12,13) running parallel to the fingers. Between the belt conveyors are components braking the piece goods (16) and which are raised and lowered. Beneath the transition areas are deflectors (6,6') for pulleys (3) to which the fingers are attached. The bottom conveyor or discharge part (14) is formed by a movable, raised and lowered telescopic conveyor.
