PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing stock capable of holding air permeability and satisfactorily usable as a porous static pressure gas bearing even after being subjected to machining. ;SOLUTION: This stock has a back plate 1 and a porous sintered metallic layer 2 baked onto the face of the back plate 1, inorganic substance particles are incorporated into the boundaries of the porous sintered metallic layer 2. The porous sintered metallic layer contains tin, nickel, phosphorus and copper, and the inorganic substance particles are composed of at least one among graphite, boron nitride, graphite fluoride, calcium fluoride, aluminum oxide, silicon oxide and silicon carbide.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
