ORYZA SATIVA L. CHITINASE COMPLEMENTARY DNA HAVING BACTERIOLYTIC ACTIVITY ON FILAMENTOUS FUNGI AND BACTERIA, VECTOR CONTAINING THE SAME AND TRANSOFRMANT
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new DNA consisting of an Oryza sativa L. chitinase complementary DNA having bacteriolytic activity on filamentous fungi and bacteria, and capable of developing recombinant plants afforded with resistance to a wide range of pathogenic bacteria by its introduction into plants. ;SOLUTION: This new Oryza sativa L. chitinase complementary DNA is such one as to have bacteriolytic activity on filamentous fungi and bacteria and encode a protein consisting of an amino acid sequence of the formula. Introduction of the sequence into plants can develop recombinant farm plants afforded with resistance to a wide range of pathogenic bacteria. The DNA is obtained by subjecting the DNA data base, in which the partial sequences of many complementary DNAs are registered through the Oryza sativa L. genome project's construction of Oryza sativa L. complementary DNA library, to homology screening using the complementary DNA of class III chitinase of tobacco, selecting a clone homologous thereto, followed by its amplification.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
