PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel lithium isotope separating agent excellent in separation performance of lithium isotope and a method for efficiently separating lithium isotope using the same. ;SOLUTION: The lithium isotope separating agent is composed of monensin or the derivative expressed by a formula (in the formula, each of R1-R4 represents hydrogen atom or hydrocarbon group) and the separating method is by allowing the lithium ion aq. solution, which contains 6Li and 7Li and is adjusted alkaline, to contact with a water immiscible organic solvent containing the separating agent and transferring a part of lithium ion to the organic solvent to increase the ratio of 7Li to 6Li in lithium ions remaining in an aq. solution. And the separating method of lithium isotope is by continuously transferring lithium ion in the alkaline adjusted lithium ion-containing aq. solution to an acidic adjusted aq. solution through a liquid film composed of the water immiscible organic solvent to obtain an aq. solution containing lower 7Li than 6Li.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
