TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEM FOR PREVENTING ACCIDENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a traffic accident especially due to sudden encounter by giving a caution and a warning to each of traveling objects like automobiles which are approaching an intersection between a priority road and an alley or the like crossing it from both directions. ;SOLUTION: A traveling object detection means 11 is arranged before the intersection between a priority road 1 and an alley 2 crossing it, and the classification and the speed of a traveling object 3 are detected when it reaches a position of a prescribed distance S before. A danger report device 20 set in the vicinity of the intersection receives information related to the traveling object 3 from the detection means 11 and discriminates whether the speed is proper or not and gives a warning by an information display plate 24 set at the intersection in the case of the detected speed exceeding a proper speed. An on-vehicle speed controller mounted on each of automobiles approaching the intersection on the priority road displays a warning and controls the speed to the proper speed based on danger information which consists of the classification and the speed related to the traveling object 3 from the danger report device 20, various traffic information related to the priority road 1, etc.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
