PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ingredient for beautifying and whitening useful for skin preparation for external use for beautifying and whitening capable of suppressing melanin production and having excellent beautifying and whitening effect by including an anilide derivative, phenol derivative, (benzo)imidazole derivative, etc., having a specific structure. ;SOLUTION: This ingredient for beautifying and whitening is obtained by including one or more kinds of compounds among an anilide derivative of formula I, etc., a phenol derivative of formula II, etc., a benzoimidazole derivative of formula III, etc., an imidazole derivative of formula IV, etc., benzenesulfonamide derivative of formula V, etc., a naphthalene derivative and/or their salts exhibiting beautifying and whitening action.
