PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frictional material composition small in the falloff of cashew dust and long in the duration of adhesion of a coating material and a process for preparing the same, a frictional material composition suitable for a frictional, material free of causing the offset deposition of cashew dust and a process for preparing the same and a frictional material free of causing the offset deposition of cashew dust. ;SOLUTION: In a frictional material composition comprising a fibrous substance, a binder and a friction adjustor, the cashew dust in the friction adjustor is coated with a liquid rubber as the part of the binder at a rate of 3-17 pts.wt. liquid rubber to 100 pts.wt. cashew dust. A process for preparing a frictional material composition comprises coating cashew dust with a liquid rubber and subsequently adding a material containing a fibrous substance, a binder and a friction adjustor to the coated cashew dust to mix them. A frictional material is obtained by subjecting said frictional composition or the frictional composition prepared by said process to press-forming under heating.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
